Mot créé par les physiciens Perrier et Segré in Nature, 4 janv. 1947, 24-1 ds NED Suppl.²: We would like to propose the name of ,,technetium`` from the Greek τ ε χ ν η τ ο ́ ς, artificial, in recognition of the fact that technetium is the first artificially made element.
